Part 6: Trade management

  • Emphasis is on the combination of manual and automated trade management with NT8’s ATM strategy. The advantage of this approach is that positions can be easily managed, stops tightened under pivots in a rule-based manner but manually. Optionally, a set of trailing rules can be defined for increased consistency. Working with ATMs allows the biggest freedom to the professional trader while still maintaining consistency.

  • Targets are defined based on market structure. As a general rule, one third or one half of the position is removed at the previous pivot is reached, while the rest is trailed.

PRO STR BT is a self-adjusting (‘self-learning’) standalone trading strategy based on the Momentum methodology. It is similar to PRO STR, with one major difference: instead of an ATM, the algorithmic signal calls its own volatility-adjusted trade management engine, run natively in NT8. PRO STR BT is lightning fast. Further features of this strategy are as follows:

  • since all mathematical calculations are based on ATR(lookback), the strategy dynamically and automatically self-adjusts to the ever-changing market volatility conditions, therefore the strategy can be traded with the same settings on various markets at various times, bringing tremendous benefits to the trader both in consistency and efficiency.

  • thanks to its lightning-fast speed, PRO STR BT (and its sibling BTX) is uniquely suited to do research on a wide variety of markets, saving hundreds of hours to the trader.

  • its two order sets allow a portion of the contracts placed to be “runners”, while the other portion can have a dynamically defined target. All positions can be trailed based on volatility-adjusted trailing rules.

  • See the details of all trade management settings in the Technical Specifications including what’s new in v3.90.
